Tullamore Hospital Says No Wrong Site Surgeries Took Place Between 2017 & 2020

It's a growing trend that's concerning the Irish Patients Association.

The Irish Patients Association is voicing concern about the growing trend of wrong site surgeries in Ireland. 

The mistake involves an operation taking place on the wrong side or incorrect area of the body. 

Chairman of the IPA Stephen McMahon says preventable errors are also on the rise:

Tullamore Hospital says no wrong site surgeries took place in the hospital between 2017 and 2020.

The HSE had reported, in response to a Freedom of Information request, that six incidents had occurred.

The Offaly facility has clarified these were administration errors.
