Social media was largely to blame for Fine Gael not running a second candidate in Tullamore, according to one of its councillors.
Neil Feighery topped the polls in the area, clearing the quota by more than 500 votes on the first count.
However, he was the only Fine Gael candidate in Tullamore, despite efforts from the party to secure a running mate for Mr. Feighery.
