The staffing situation at a midlands paediatric diabetic clinic is a "damning indictment" of the health service.
Longford Westmeath Sinn Féin TD, Sorca Clarke, was speaking as it has emerged the clinic at Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar is in danger of closing, due to issues with staffing and resources.
A letter was sent to parents from Consultant Paediatrician, Professor Michael O'Grady, informing them that the Advanced Nurse Practitioner has been carrying the workload of 2.6 people.
The hospital says recent recruitment efforts have been successful, but it can't release the candidate to the Paediatric Diabetes Service, due to pressures facing unscheduled care.
