Still Hope For EU Dialogue With Israel And Palestine - European Affairs Minister

EU Foreign Ministers are holding an emergency meeting today in response to the escalating conflict.

There's still hope for dialogue between the EU and Israel and Palestine, according to the European Affairs Minister.

EU foreign ministers are holding an emergency meeting today to discuss the response to the escalating conflict between the Israeli military and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

It comes as around 1,500 bodies of Hamas militants were found in Israeli territory following a surprise terrorist attack in which killed 900 people there.

Palestinian authorities have reported 700 deaths in Gaza and the West Bank.

The Tánaiste, and Minister for Foreign Affairs, says humanitarian aid to Palestine needs to continue.

A decision yesterday by a Hungarian European Commissioner to put EU funding for Palestine under review has been reversed.

Speaking on his way into Cabinet this morning, Micheál Martin says humanitarian assistance needs to continue:

The World Health Organisation is calling for a humanitarian corridor to be set up into and out of the Gaza Strip.

The area controlled by Hamas has been under siege by Israel since yesterday.

The WHO says there needs to be an immediate end to the violence.

A survivor of the attack by militant group Hamas on the Supernova festival in Israel says his escape was "terrifying".

Israeli defence forces are still trying to identify and remove the bodies of over 250 people killed in the tragedy.

Hai Cohen has described dodging bullets as he drove through a field with his girlfriend to get away from the violence.
