Streamlining Planning Process Suggested To Help Offaly County Council Reach Housing Targets

Increasing the scope of land for acquisition was also muted by a local councillor this week.

Streamlining the planning process and increasing the scope of land for acquisition are two ways Offaly County Council could achieve its housing targets. 

Fine Gael's John Clendennen says increasing the private housing stock would reduce demand for council accommodation and alleviate pressure on the housing authority.

Under the government's Housing For All strategy, the local authority aims to build 463 council houses before 2026, 77% of which are already approved for development.
