Students are being warned to wait before paying a deposit for accommodation until they know they will definitely need it.
The Union of Students of Ireland says many students were left out of pocket for rent when colleges closed early in March due to Covid-19.
It’s now looking for measures to be implemented to protect students in the event of another lockdown, such as a waiver for those who can’t access their accommodation, the ability to end a lease early, and the return of deposits.
