Pat McDonagh has been outspoken about compensation levels in Ireland before.
Calls for increased personal injuries awards are coming from legal professionals who stand to benefit from the increase.
That's according to Supermacs founder and owner of the Killeshin and Athlone Springs hotels, Pat McDonagh.
Mr McDonagh has been an outspoken critic of the compensation levels paid out in Ireland - with the State ranking significantly higher than other comparable countries.
Payout levels have started to recede in recent years but the Judicial Council is asking the Justice Department to consider the impact of inflation over those years and increase personal-injury awards by nearly 17 per cent.
