Sinn Féin’s education spokesperson Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire and Fine Gael Senator Regina Doherty have called for students to have the choice to sit their exam or accept an accredited grade again this summer.
The measure was introduced for the Class of 2021, to accommodate for challenges caused by school closures and remote learning.
But General Secretary of the TUI, Tullamore's Michael Gillespie says predicted grades can’t go ahead again this year, as many students did not sit the Junior Cert:
