Westmeath Woman speaks out about her experience of racism.

A Westmeath woman is speaking out about her experience of racism in Ireland. 

Twenty-two year old Valerie Oyiki from Athlone says the first time she recalls a negative comment towards her was at the community games when she was just eight. 

The killing of George Floyd in the US has sparked protests under the banner of black lives matter, with a solidarity demonstration taking place in the Midlands this weekend. 

Valerie says she feels she still has be aware that some people may have an issue because of her skin colour:
