Over 5,000 of those were detected in the Eastern Region.
Over 30% of theft and related offences crimes were detected nationally in 2023.
Just under 5,300 of those crimes were detected in the Eastern Region, which includes Laois, Offaly and Westmeath, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office.
However, in the region more than 14,000 such crimes were reported to Gardaí last year, the second highest across the country.
The highest theft reporting rate came in the Dublin Metropolitan Region at over 37,000 cases.
