Westmeath homeowners are being asked to exercise caution when answering their doors to those offering services.
Gardaí in the county have seen multiple reports of bogus callers offering to carry out work on tarmacadam, cutting tress, and cleaning gutters.
Sergeant Brian Stones is the Crime Prevention Officer in the Westmeath Division.
He says while not every caller is acting in bad faith, gardaí want people to stick with registered trades people:
