New Laws Banning Sale Of Turf Not Aimed At People Who Cut And Burn Their Own Turf

That's according to a Junior Minister.

A junior minister says new laws banning the sale of turf won't lead to punishments for those who burn turf from their own land.

Jack Chambers says the new laws aren't aimed at people who cut and burn their own turf.

However, the Daily Mail reports that those who burn turf excessively could face jail terms of up to two years or a €13,000 euro fine. 

But the Minister Sport and the Gaeltacht, says the law mentioned in the article have been in effect since 1987:
