Tullamore Roads Policing Unit are conducting checks on unsafe vehicles and road traffic offences.
Two cars have been seized by Gardaí in the Midlands today as part of the National Day of Action focused on tyre safety.
Tullamore Roads Policing Unit are carrying out enforcement checks on vehicles found to be unsafe or in breach of road traffic legislation.
The first car was stopped due to four bald tyres, no valid NCT, the learner driver unaccompanied and the vehicle travelling 1,500km without the tyres being replaced after previously failing the NCT.
The second vehicle had no valid NCT, a damaged tyre caused by lowered suspension, no front registration plate and rear registration plate not conforming to requirements.
Fines following the seizures were issued.
