The two men pleaded guilty for an incident on November 27th.
Two men have been jailed after forcing entry into sheltered accommodation in the midlands and attacking a vulnerable man.
Joseph White, who is 37 of Brawny Square and 40 year old Kevin Stephens, formerly of Ashdale - both in Athlone - pleaded guilty to burglary on November 27th.
The court heard the victim was in recovery and was provided with the accommodation in Westmeath by the Simon Community.
It was said the man heard a knock on the door, and after he answered a scuffle broke out in which he was subjected to a savage beating.
Both attackers were handed 5 year sentences, with the Judge suspending the final 18 months for Mr. Stephens, and the last two and a half years for Mr. White.
