Uisce Eireann Continues Public Appeal For Public To Conserve Water

A hosepipe ban was put in place throughout last summer for Lough Owel.

Uisce Éireann doesn't foresee a hose-pipe ban as it stands.

However it's appealing to the public to make more of an effort to conserve water while the high temperature warning is in place for the entire country.

They're advising people to check for leaks and dripping taps, avoid running the tap and choose a shower over a bath.

People in Westmeath relying on the Mullingar Regional Water Supply from Lough Owel found themselves under a ban for throughout last summer and into Autumn last year.

Margaret Attridge, Operations Manager at Uisce Éireann says treatment plants come under more pressure during warm weather.
