There had been severe delays throughout Mullingar in the build up to Christmas.
The updated traffic light system in Mullingar is having a very positive impact on movement through the town.
That's according to Mullingar Town Team, which had been appealing to Westmeath County Council to alter traffic management, especially in the run-up to Christmas.
Town enhancement works have been causing in heavy traffic jams in recent weeks, particularly between Dublin Bridge and Green Bridge.
Council officials said the disruption was down to software problems with the traffic lights, and changed the system to flashing amber lights.
