A Westmeath councillor is issuing a reminder in the run up to Halloween that bonfires are illegal.
Fianna Fáil's Aengus O'Rourke says the uncontrolled burning of waste is not only damaging to the environment but dangerous and disruptive to local residents.
He's urging people to be aware of this and says anyone suspected of stockpiling material for bonfires will have it removed by local authority staff:
