The provision for much-needed class at Athlone Community College was announced last Summer, but has gone through a number of delays.
But Chairperson of the Board of Management, Frankie Keena, has confirmed the additional needs class will be ready and open on the 20th of February.
A class currently housed in the main school building will be moved to a modular facility, and the additional needs students will be accommodated inside.
Athlone mum Michelle Dowling Lynch is welcoming the opening day for a new additional needs class at Athlone Community College.
Her son Gareth, who has autism, has been waiting at home since the provision of the new class was announced last Summer.
