Westmeath Additional Needs Class To Open Next Month

The provision of the much-needed class was announced last Summer.

A new additional needs class in Westmeath is due to be opened next month.

The provision for much-needed class at Athlone Community College was announced last Summer, but has gone through a number of delays.

But Chairperson of the Board of Management, Frankie Keena, has confirmed the additional needs class will be ready and open on the 20th of February.

A class currently housed in the main school building will be moved to a modular facility, and the additional needs students will be accommodated inside.

Athlone mum Michelle Dowling Lynch is welcoming the opening day for a new additional needs class at Athlone Community College.

Her son Gareth, who has autism, has been waiting at home since the provision of the new class was announced last Summer.

Ms. Dowling Lynch says she's eager for Gareth to go back to school:
