A 'town team' has been put together to identify sites that might be charged derelict levies.
Westmeath County Council is putting together a town team to identify derelict properties in the region.
The local authority is asking people to report buildings that are vacant, so they can be added to the derelict sites register to ensure levies are being charged.
In Kinnegad, the council's derelict site officer, counted 16 empty premises, with the same amount in Clonmellon and Kilbeggan.
