Potential land earmarked for housing projects that may be at risk of flooding in a Westmeath town should be reconsidered for dezoning.
That's the view of Athlone Councillor Frankie Keena, who is asking the local authority to consider the National Catchment-based Flood Risk Assessment and Management Programme report.
Published in 2018, the OPW project mapped potential future flood hazard areas across the country.
It comes as the local authority is looking to publish its Joint Urban Area Plan with Roscommon County council in the coming months.
