Possible sites have been proposed to the council for the service.
A local councillor is calling for further developments to be made in starting up a park and ride service in a Westmeath town.
Fine Gael's John Dolan has been campaigning for the service to be introduced in Athlone since 2007.
He is suggesting looking at sites around the town, such as near the motorway, the Moate Road or TUS Athlone.
