A Westmeath councillor is under investigation after allegedly travelling 140 kilometres to attend a boxing coaching event.
Fine Gael rep Andrew Duncan, who serves on the board of the Irish Athletic Boxing Association, is accused of making the trip to Portlaoise on March 13th, according to a report in the Irish Examiner this morning.
The IABA was alerted to a gathering of between 30 and 40 people from across the country at a gym.
Political correspondent with the Irish Examiner, Aoife Moore says it's created a rift on the board, with Mr. Duncan allegedly refusing to step aside while an internal investigation is carried out:
