A Westmeath councillor is calling for measures to tackle persistent flooding at three locations.
Athlone Councillor Aengus O'Rourke is pointing to areas around Athlone that need to be addressed, including the Retreat Road and Magazine Road, the Old Galway Road and Talbot Avenue.
Funding has been awarded through the LAWPRO Nature-Based Solutions Programme to address flooding at Retreat Road, with all works to be completed by November this year.
Meanwhile, funding has been allocated for flood alleviation works at Old Galway Road, with completion anticipated by the end of 2026.
