Westmeath Councillor Would Like Gender Quotas In 2024 Local Elections

There's only ten women currently operating on midlands county councils.

A quota system should be introduced to ensure gender balance on the ballot paper in the 2024 local elections.

That's the view of Westmeath councillor Louise Heavin. 

She's one of ten women out of 58 representatives on county councils throughout the midlands.
