The latest turn in a long running saga sees the public representatives asking the public for help.
A group of Westmeath County Councillors is starting a Go Fund Me page in a bid to continue their legal challenge against the delivery of a large scale asylum seeker accommodation development in Athlone.
All representatives from the Athlone area have appointed a legal team to challenge the project on environmental grounds.
That team is being tasked with delivering an injunction to halt the Lissywollen works.
In a statement to Midlands 103 the group say excess proceeds from the fundraising will be donated equally to Pieta House, Esker House Women’s Refuge, South Westmeath Hospice, Meals on Wheels, Vincent de Paul, and the Irish Wheelchair Association.
