Westmeath Hospital Among Top Earners Of Public Health Funds

For-profit private hospitals are getting record sums as the State struggles to manage waiting lists.

The Irish Independent is reporting a record €155m of public money went into outsourcing last year - a seven fold increase on the €22.9m in 2020.

The Charter Medical Private Hospital in Mullingar was among the biggest earners getting just over €15m in 2024.

Of the €264m National Treatment Purchase Fund budget, just €79m went to public hospitals.
