Keith Grehan will appear in Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court on October 22nd.
A Westmeath man is pleading guilty to violently attacking and threatening to kill a woman who was left hospitalised following an assault in the Midlands.
The Irish Independent is reporting 36 year old Keith Grehan from Beechville, Athlone signed the two guilty pleas after Athlone District Court heard a Garda's witness testimony to the 2024 attack which left the victim with missing teeth.
Garda Niall Cahill told the court he saw the argument between Mr Grehan and the woman at Central Terrace, Northgate Street, in Athlone on October 5th, 2024.
She was attacked as she attempted to walk away.
The woman subsequently made an accusation that she was pushed, and punched and had her teeth knocked out.
Garda Cahill said he saw the woman's broken tooth on the left hand side of her face.
She was treated for her injuries at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
The case had just gone through a jurisdiction hearing where the Judge decided it fell outside the judicial remit of the District Court.
Upon returning to court for updated directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr Grehan instead signed the two guilty pleas.
He is remanded on bail before appearing in Mullingar Circuit Criminal Court on October 22nd, and was ordered to have no contact whatsoever with his alleged victim and her family.
