They recently held their AGM.
Services across the Midlands need to be accessible to older people.
That's according to the chair of the Westmeath Older Persons Council, who says people are living longer than ever.
Given the recent figures, Anne Drury highlighted how accessible services are essential to ensuring older generations can enjoy a comfortable and independent life in their later years.
Throughout the AGM, the council celebrated the many initiatives rolled out over the past year to improve the lives of older people living in Westmeath.
A variety of issues have been addressed, with sports workshops keeping people active and housing initiatives helping people stay living at home and remain comfortable.
The Older Persons Council has now established representatives on the board of Local Link, contributing ideas to improve accessibility and acting as a spokesperson for the older generation within the county.
Elements such as accessible transport are vital to allowing people to remain included in their communities, which was identified as an important priority in the strategy.
A discussion was also held on what work remains to be done to progress this aim of improving the lives of the older generation.
Ms Drury highlighted that improving quality of life remains a priority for the council and older people living across Westmeath:
