Westmeath Private Medical Campus Credits Public Health Cases For Success

The Charter Medical Campus in Mullingar is set to expand its Midlands workforce by up to 200 jobs.

A private medical campus says 70% of its business is coming from the public health system.

It comes following The Charter Medical Campus in Mullingar's announcement that a two year capital plan worth €50 million will expand its Midlands workforce by up to 200 jobs.

The group says the bedrock of its success so far is down to the 70,000 cases a year taken through the National Treatment Purchase Fund.

The majority of these cases are ophthalmology and colonoscopy appointments meant for the Midlands Regional Hospitals in Tullamore and Mullingar.

Chair of Charter Medical in Mullingar Tom Byrne says the future developments will be focused on helping the State resolve waiting lists:
