It was chosen from over 120 public nominations.
A Westmeath river project is in the final of Ireland’s Greenest Places 2025.
The Dysart River Project is one of five national finalists in the Community category of the award.
Chosen from over 120 public nominations, the project is being highlighted for its remarkable environmental turnaround.
From 2018 to 2021, the river was classified as poor in water quality, but a collaborative effort by 23 farmers, scientists, and local agencies helped restore it.
Innovative solutions like solar-powered cattle drinkers were introduced to reduce agricultural impact and protect the river ecosystem.
The winners will be announced in the coming weeks by The Irish Times and Electric Ireland.
