The TUS scientist is being honoured by the University of Strathclyde.
A Westmeath scientist is getting the highest academic degree available in either the Irish or UK system.
TUS scientist, Professor Neil Rowan, is to receive a Higher Doctor of Science from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland.
The award honours researchers with decades of impactful work in their discipline.
Professor Rowan’s career thesis spans two volumes of around 1,600 pages, including 150 peer-reviewed journal papers, covering his research from 1995 to the present day.
His work focuses on disease prevention and control, medical technology, and sustainability.
