96 families are set to benefit from the additional social houses.
Just under 100 new social homes are being opened in Westmeath today.
The developments are across the county at Ennell Court and The Cedars, in Mullingar, An Garran Gael in Kinnegad, and Quinlan Park in Athlone.
The A-rated homes are set for 96 families who are on the Westmeath Social Housing list, or who may previously have resided in HAP accommodation.
Longford-Westmeath TD and Junior Housing Minister Peter Burke says the announcement represents a significant inroad into the housing list in Westmeath.
