Radical change will come about in politics if more women get involved - that's the view of Labour General Election candidate Fidelma Bennett.
She's running in Longford Westmeath following her local election bid in Mullingar in June in which she narrowly missed out on a seat.
Nationally, the upcoming vote will see 248 women running - the largest ever number contesting for seats and a 53 per cent increase on the number of women who ran in the 2020 General
Election.
Ms Bennett's manifesto focuses on providing more afforable housing.
