Tipperary struck late at Nowlan Park to deny Offaly.

Offaly Minor Hurling Manager Leo O'Connor has described the late defeat to Tipperary in the All-Ireland Final as a "bitter pill to swallow".

The Faithful youngsters led throughout the second half, but a Paddy McCormack goal in the fourth minute of injury time gave Tipp a 1-17 to 1-16 win at Nowlan Park.

Leigh Kavanagh got Offaly's goal before half-time, and it was their backs that looked like driving them to victory after the interval.

Leo O'Connor had these thoughts on a controversial conclusion:

Offaly GAA has organised a homecoming event this evening for the panel, which the public are encouraged to attend.

They'll be in O'Connor Park in Tullamore from 6pm, and then in St Brendan's Park in Birr from approximately 8pm.
