Chelsea Terminate Tuchel's Reign

Champions League winning coach fired off the back of three defeats in five.

Chelsea are set to begin talks with Graham Potter with a view to appointing the Brighton boss as their new manager. 

They've been given permission by the Seagulls to speak to Potter this afternoon. 

Hours after the club sacked Thomas Tuchel.

The German has paid the price for an inconsistent start to the new season. 

The London club lost to Leeds United and Southampton in the Premier League and then suffered a 1-nil defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in their Champions League group stage opener last night. 

Tuchel was appointed Chelsea manager in January 2021 and guided the club to Champions League glory in his first season. 

The new ownership group of the club, led by American Todd Boehly, say they believe it's the right time to make a transition 100 days into their ownership. 

Speaking last night, Tuchel said his team were "clearly" not where he wanted them to be.

Tuchel led Chelsea to the Champions League title and Club World Cup after succeeding Frank Lampard in January last year.
