The Athlone man leaves the club after less than a year in charge.
Colin Fortune has spoken for the first time about his shock decision over the weekend to resign as manager of the high-flying Athlone Town Women's team.
The Athlone man said he made the decision to resign as he was not given clarity on his future at the club beyond this season.
Mr Fortune said that he didn't have full control in decisions made regarding team selection and that he felt "undermined" as manager.
Fortune departs Town as they sit top of the Women's Premier Division and are set to face Glasgow City in the Europa Cup qualifiers tomorrow.
They also face Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup semi finals this weekend.
