Athlone Town announced her departure today.

Athlone Town have announced Muireann Devaney will be leaving the club after three successful seasons at the club.

Her most likely destination is Sligo Rovers where her former Athlone manager Tommy Hewitt has taken over, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Devaney was an important part of a Hewitt team that reached the FAI Cup Final in 2022 and finished a close second in the Women's Premier Division.

Devaney then went one better under Ciaran Kilduff last year when Athlone won their first ever major trophy in the women's game, by beating Shelbourne in a dramatic final in November.

The midlanders today released a statement that underlined their appreciation for her efforts in her time at the club.

Town called her contributions to the club "outstanding" and that she'd be missed by the club and her now former team mates.
