There was national glory today for a Westmeath school in the FAI Schools Minor Boys Cup.
Marist College in Athlone ran out 2-1 winners over Christian Brother's College of Cork in Limerick thanks to a brace of goals from Diarmuid O’Higgins.
The Under 15s team managed to beat Carndonagh National School of Donegal last time out to book their final berth.
Later this weekend an under 15s Athlone Football club could make it a remarkable National Cup double for the town.
St Joseph's play Home Farm at Jackson Park in Wayside, Dublin at 11.30 in the SFAI Cup Final on Sunday.
The Westmeath club beat another big name in Irish soccer in the semi-final, beating Malahide, however their manager Davy Cummins says it was the previous round that gave his team the confidence to get to the final:
