Oisin Lane bore witness to a massive attendance for this year's track and field championships.
Athletics in Ireland is in rude health according to the midlands latest national champion.
Oisin Lane of the Mullingar Harriers won the men's 10,000m race walk on Saturday at Santry in cold and very wet conditions.
Clubmates Matthew Glennon and Andrew Glennon secured third and fourth place, respectively, in the same race.
While Oisin's sister Aisling took silver in the women's 5,000m race.
This season, along with claiming his first senior crown, Lane managed a 23rd place finish at the European Championships in Rome.
He believes it was the success of Irish athletes on the track at that competition in Italy that inspired so many young people to come to Dublin for the nationals.
The Mullingar Harrier says the atmosphere was brilliant:
Oisin's full interview will be broadcast on Health & Fitness with David Hollywood on Midlands 103 on Friday from 7pm.
