Jack Cooney has been appointed to a National Player Development position with the GAA.
Westmeath will be looking for a new manager of their senior footballers after Jack Cooney this weekend announced he was leaving the Lake County after four years at the helm.
This year he led the county to Tailteann Cup success, beating Monaghan in the final at Croke Park in July.
The Coralstown-Kinnegad man is to take up a full time player development role with the GAA.
Cooney says he had an 'extremely enjoyable spell' in inter-county management while Westmeath say the process to find his replacement will commence imminently.
