Daniel Downey and Cillin Hoey were both in action for Ireland on Saturday.
Two international championship medals have come back to the midlands from Cardiff after the weekend.
Daniel Downey of St Mary's CBS Portlaoise secured won bronze in the Under 16 Boys Pentathlon in the Schools Combined Events International in Wales.
Downey was eclipsed by impressive winner, England's Joshua Dako, and runner-up Douglas Knox of Scotland.
The Portlaoise AC athlete led the field in his specialist event, the 800 metres, with a time of 2:03:05 to win his medal.
Daniel was joined on the under 18 team by Colaiste Iosagain Portarlington's Cillin Hoey, Ryan Onoh from Ashton Cork, and Wojciech Fraczek of Midleton CBS.
Together they claimed the team silver for the competition as well.
