Michael Duignan Lands Central Council Role After Convention Vote

The All Ireland winner has one more year left as chairperson of Offaly GAA.

Offaly GAA Chairperson Michael Duignan enjoyed a productive county board convention meeting last night.

The Durrow man saw off competition from Dolores Slevin to win election to represent Offaly on the GAA's Central Council.

He won the vote 83 to 31 over the Kilcormac-Killoughey woman who had just finished her term on the Leinster Council.

Duignan was also re-elected unopposed to see out the fifth and final year of his time as chairperson.

The majority of the county board were re-elected unopposed at the meeting with the exception of the election of Leinster Council representatives.

These seats will be filled by Ciaran Groom of Bracknagh and Crinkill's Declan Ward saw off competition from Clara man Alex Roe.
