Midlands Teams Continue Solid Start To All-Ireland League Campaign

Tullamore remain unbeaten division 2C.

There's been mixed fortunes on the results front for Buccaneers and Tullamore in the second round of All-Ireland League.

On the back of a strong showing against Cashel RFC in the opening game, Buccs traveled to Eaton Park in Ballymena full of confidence.

They would come unstuck Antrim but managed to plunder a losing bonus point before returning south of the border.

Head coach Kolo Kiripati will be pleased not to return empty handed as that point could be very useful at the season's end.

Buccaneers sit fourth in Division 2A after the first two weeks of the season, ahead of Ballymena on points difference.

Their next fixture is at home in Dubarry Park on Saturday against winless Nenagh.

Meanwhile in Division 2C, a last minute drop goal from out-half Sam Burns was enough to give Tullamore a win away in Omagh.

It was after the 80th minute mark that Burns struck the decisive blow and they also sit in fourth in the league table as one of four unbeaten teams.

They meet another of those next weekend in the shape of Skerries, who are ahead of the Offaly side after collecting a try bonus point in their win last weekend.

Results:

Ballymena 29-22 Buccaneers

Omagh Academicals 16-19 Tullamore

Fixtures:

Buccaneers v Nenagh - Saturday - 2:30pm

Skerries v Tullamore - Saturday - 2:30pm
