Offaly Schools Reach Knock Out Stage Of Leinster Following Win Over Midlands Rivals

The Faithful were 12 points better than Laois on Saturday.

Offaly progressed to the knockout stages of the Leinster Schools Senior Hurling A Championship after victory over Laois in Faithful Fields on Saturday.

The Faithful County combined schools team won the game on a final scoreline of 2-21 to 1-12 after a strong finish to the end of the second half.

Laois were competitive to the closing stages until James Liffey's late goal sealed victory.

Victory on Saturday sets Offaly up for another tilt at provincial honours after their success over St Kieran's of Kilkenny in the Leinster final last year.

Liam O'Riordan from Cistercian College, Roscrea finished with an impressive 1-08, while Banagher College's Shane Rigney wracked up 0-04. 

Eoghan Murphy led the scoring charts for Laois with 0-09 from frees, while Cormac Hogan got their only goal.
