Portarlington's Shane Ryan has come up short in his efforts to reach the Olympic qualifying standard in two events.
After a good swim in the 100m backstroke earlier this week, he was back in the pool this morning in the 100m Freestyle.
He needed to swim a time of 48.57 in order to make the standard but unfortunately he could only manage 50.97 for a third placed finish in his heat.
One swimmer from each National Association is allowed to enter without making the qualifying standard but there are now number of people who have swam faster than the 27 year-old in the event.
