Rare Winning Weekend For All Midlands Sides In Allianz Football League

Here's your round-up of all the weekend's gaelic games action.

It was a  rare winning weekend for all three midlands sides in the Allianz Football League.

Offaly boosted their survival hopes with a superb one point victory over Down on Saturday.

Boss John Maughan says they're feeling the pressure from some key absences, but the younger players are making the most of it:

While Westmeath and Laois got back into the promotion picture.

The Lake County secured a six point win over the dominant side of Division Three.

It ended 1-12 to 1-06 in Limerick.

Manager Jack Cooney was proud of the display:

And Laois claimed two crucial points in their decisive 1-17 to 8 point win over bottom-side Wicklow.

The O'Moore County didn't speak after the game in solidarity with the GPA's disagreement with the GAA.

Meanwhile,

The Westmeath ladies are returning to Division Two in the Lidl National Football League.

The All-Ireland Intermediate Champions were held to a 1-17 to 0-07 defeat by fellow strugglers Waterford in yesterday's relegation final.

A disappointing weekend on the camogie front too.

Offaly failed to overcome the challenge from Down in Division One, 2-11 to 3-5 there.

While in Division Two,

Kilkenny had a 3-7 to 0-08 point win over Westmeath.

And Laois suffered a 4-19 to 0-07 beating at the hands of Antrim.

Things looking much brighter in the minor ranks though.

Laois, Offaly and Westmeath all booked themselves a spot in the All-Ireland finals.

Laois over came neighbours Kildare, 5-18 to 0-06 in the B semi-finals.

While Meath fell at the hands of Offaly, 1-10 to 0-08.

In the Minor C semi-finals,

Westmeath secured themselves 2-12 to 0-09 victory over Armagh.
