Westmeath's Jack Torpey hit the winning goal in the 60th minute of last night's contest.
TUS Midlands fired their way in to the winner's section of the of the Sigerson Cup last night.
The Athlone University trailed for much of the contest thanks in part to the sharp shooting of Offaly and Edenderry's Cian Farrell.
Coralstown/Kinnegad's Jack Torpey hit a crucial late goal to swing the contest in favour of TUS over SETU Carlow.
The final score at SETU Carlow was 3-11 to 2-13.
That result sends SETU Carlow in to the loser's section and in to an unfavourable draw away to DCU, while TUS Midlands will travel to take on Queen's University Belfast.
Both games will take place on the 16th or 17th of January.
