Vastly Improved Westmeath Run Waterford Close

They'll be ruing some wayward first half shooting in Walsh Park.

A number of first half wides may have cost Westmeath a famous win in Waterford. 

Westmeath were seven points down at the time of a Waterford sending off early in the second half, Jack Fagan given his marching orders by the referee. 

He wasn't afraid to give players the line as Cormac Boyle and one of the Waterford substitutes also found out in the second half. 

Killian Doyle kept Westmeath in the contest throughout with his free taking and with five minutes left on the clock there was only two points between the teams, 1-19 to 1-17. 

Davy Glennon added three points from midfield as he continues to settle in well to his new surroundings. 

The home side dug deep though and tacked on three scores to finish up with a five point success. 

For Shane O'Brien it was a vastly improved showing from their heavy defeat to Galway last week but as the Tribesmen showed against Limerick, they're going to be a serious threat for Liam McCarthy honours in 2021.
