"We Needed A Performance And That's What We Did" - Howe

Athlone Town secured a 3-1 win over Peamount United over the weekend.

Athlone Town struck a potentially important blow in this year's race for the Women's Premier Division title over the weekend.

Defending champions, Peamount United were in the midlands on Saturday evening to take on Ciaran Kilduff's FAI Cup winners.

Despite conceding a first half penalty, Town dominated the game with Casey Howe making a telling contribution up front.

The former Glentoran and Sligo Rovers striker scored two and set up Madison Gibson for another.

Howe says she's enjoying playing with Gibson and believes the 3-1 win was  an important result:

Athlone Town are strongly represented in both teams of the week in the League of Ireland First Division and Women's Premier Division.

Ciaran Kilduff is manager of the week in the women's league, with Laurie Ryan, Madi Gibson, and Casey Howe named in the team.

While Dean Ebbe has been named up front on the men's team.
